The Ekhidna winery is one of the best in the McLaren Vale region, producing shiraz blends that leave you speechless. Ekhidna are lucky enough to call award winning winemaker Matthew Rechner their very own, and his expertise is evident when sampling the Ekhidna Rarefied Shiraz 2012 A word from the Winemaker, Matthew Rechner:

Our rarefied Shiraz is only made from outstanding vintages in the McLaren Vale, using whole-bunch, hand-selected fruit from 145-year-old vines. The wine is made using our unique handcrafted technique and matured in 100% new French oak. With a delicate balance of fine grain and coarse, dryer tannins this wine has amazing structure and length.

Tasting Notes

Colour & Appearance: Deep red. Nose: Fragrant bouquet of black fruits, with dark chocolate hints and fine French oak undertones. Palate: Coats the mouth in seductive black fruits and sophisticated dark chocolate. A robust blend that finishes well and lingers on the palate.
