English Harbour Antigua Rum Aged 10 Years 700mL ABV 40%

English Harbour is a rum from the West Indies Island of Antigua is considered by many experts to be one of the finest blends of both Dark and Light Rum distilled in the Caribbean today.  The Rum Masters at the Antigua Distillery have taken the time, patience and expertise to craft a rum that is golden, full-bodied and with a taste of one of the finest blends of rum in the West Indies.

  • AUTHENTIC Caribbean Rum, produced and bottled at source in Antigua.
  • SINGLE estate and matured for longer than is normally required for an exceptionally smooth rum.
  • DISTILLED in copper stills and aged in small 220 litre charred oak barrels to give it a uniquely silky and mellow flavour.
  • NAMED after the famous Antiguan naval port of English Harbour; an 18th century theatre of war for Britian and France as they battled for world power.
  • DISTINCTIVE international packaging which is a modern expression of the brand's long association with sailing.
  • THREE styles available: Golden, Light and Extra Old which is gift boxed.

English Harbour rum begins with molasses imported from the Dominican Republic and Guyana, while the DR source is preferred for it’s  higher sugar content (55-58%).  Baker’s yeast is used to initiate fermentation.  Anthony Bento, Managing Director of Antigua Distillers Ltd’s explains this is why English Harbour rums have their wonderful bready flavor.  Some airborne wild yeast also enters the open-top fermentation tanks, potentially giving an additional, if somewhat random, complexity. ADL Copper Column Still & Inspection Windows ADL’s continuous, copper three-column still is located near St. John’s harbour on the ruins of an old fort called the Citadel, kissing the Caribbean Sea.  Mr. Bento claims this location imparts the slightest hint of sea and salt notes to the rum.

Tasting Notes & Awards

The nose is thick and full with notes of molasses and Demerara. Some smoke rises with a touch of dry fruit and fudge. The palate is spiced and rich with tropical fruits and buttery toffee apple, oily espresso with a little floral character. The finish is oaked with cigar box and honey.
