Rainfall over winter was good, setting up the soil moistures and filling the dams. Temperatures were bang in the middle of our decade averages which was idea for flowering, so crop set was high. The red gum blossom was the best we’ve seen, so bird damage was low. We still applied the nets to play it safe. There was 3 rain events from February through to April, but none too worrying. During the ripening period we only had 5 days over 30 degrees, but overall the temperatures were lower making for grapes with lovely fragrance, higher acidities and higher sugar levels than normal.
