James E Pepper 1776 Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey 6 Year Old is a part of the oldest American whiskey tradition. Maintaining their traditional forms of distilling, this whiskey is as true to the original as can be. James E Pepper 1776 Straight Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey 6 Year Old is made from a mash of approximately 62% corn and malted barley, and 38% rye. After distillation, the bourbon is aged for a minimum of six years in new, American oak casks. The recipes have not changed since the Revolution-era. The Pepper Family brand of whiskey was founded in 1776, at the dawn of the American Revolution. Elijah Pepper built the first log cabin distillery in Marseilles, Kentucky during the war of 1812. He eventually passed this on to his grandson, Colonel James E. Pepper. The same man who made the Old Fashioned cocktail famous and desirable. Unfortunately, the distillery fell on hard times and had to close its doors. But fear not, for this brand is not dead! Georgetown Trading Co., who also have a Revolution-era history, are now the stewards of this historic brand.
