Kirk and Sweeney 12 Year Old Rum is a rum crafted in the Dominican Republic from raw sugarcane. After being distilled, the rum is aged for twelve years in American oak casks. As a result, it has deep mahogany colour along with an aroma of earthy sugar cane and vanilla. The initial flavours of sweet nectar and honey give way to notes of oak and toffee. The finish, which is bold and ripe, ends with a smooth vanilla kick.
Kirk and Sweeney was the name of a wooden schooner that was best known for smuggling rum from the Caribbean to the United States during Prohibition.

The Kirk and Sweeney 12 Year Old Rum bottle is inspired by the classic onion bulb design. The rum is secured in the bottle by a raised cork that is covered with a bronze safety seal. The neck of the bottle has a picture of the Kirk and Sweeney on it and details the batch and bottle number. On the side of the natural cork you will find a little inscription about the ship. Around the bottle is a classic navigational map design that hints at the possible route the Kirk and Sweeney might have taken during Prohibition. The rum maintains a pleasant mahogany colour from the bottle to the glass. As I swirl the rum, I watch thick beads form on the glass and slowly descend down the sides.Tasting Notes
