This is rare and mature Irish single malt whiskey exclusive to My Bottle Shop, which comes in a gorgeous branded wooden box. By using two types of wood casks (sherry and bourbon) in Twin Wood, the whiskey enjoys deep, complex and smooth characteristics for incredible value. Knappogue Castle 14 Year Old Single Malt Irish Whiskey Wood Gift Box was triple distilled in pot stills using 100% malted barley. Aging took place over a period of 14 years in ex-bourbon casks. Then the whiskey was transferred to ex-Oloroso sherry casks, where it spent another 14 years. Un-chillfiltered with no added colouring.

"The aroma of the whiskey is full of dark honey and toasted cereal with the palate moving towards orchard fruits, vanilla, and coconut. The wood spices are relatively mild as the fruit from the sherry seems to saturate it. The whiskey is rich and has a satisfying finish." Stephanie Moreno.

Tasting Notes

Colour & Appearance: Pale reddish/gold colour with ideal purity. Nose: Opening inhalations encounter rich orchard fruits, flesh fruit (plum and apricot). Intriguing pepper/vegetal and spice notes become evident after a few minutes of air contact. Palate: Balanced, focused and integrated entry, which is slightly astringent and pleasantly fruity. Rich fruit flavours, including apple and grapefruit zest combine with oaky vanilla, marshmallow, brown sugar and marzipan. Lengthy finish that moves seamlessly from full fruit flavour to a dry and pleasant barley conclusion. Finish: Medium-length finish with pleasant spiced oak elements. Serving Suggestions: The distillers themselves recommend drinking this straight, with water, or on the rocks for the best flavours possible.
