The French oak infuses the Pinot Noir with premium European spice that gives the drop its kick. Vineyards and Winemaking: Pinot Noir made from MV6 clone vines planted in 1999. Following the harvesting process, the grapes go through a 5-day cold soak and 15 days on skins. Maturation takes place in 50% new French oak barrels over a period of 12 months. Tasting Notes: Alluring perfume with a banquet of red fruits (cherry, raspberry and strawberry). Accompanied by fine tannins for a perfect balance and memorable finish. Cellaring: Ready to drink now, or cellar for up to 10 years.

Using vines planted in 1999 (MV6 clone), Mons Rubra Pinot Noir 2013 represents the winemakers’ penchant for premium texture and aroma, while embracing both traditional and modern styles. The 2013 vintage is one of Mons Rubra’s finest, with silky tannins, a velvety palate and forest floor nuances. From the winemakers: "The vineyard has been a labour of love which journeyed through from steep learning curves to continuously developing. It has become a grand passion and the vines are 'the babies', to be nurtured through all development stages and given much love at all times."

Tasting Notes

Colour & Appearance: Translucent garnet red with outstanding clarity. Nose: A rich Burgundian forest floor bouquet slips seamlessly into a complex and aromatic array of red fruits like strawberry and cherry. Underscored with hints of spice and earthy notes. Palate: Burgundian style medium-bodied Shiraz with silky tannins and subtle French oak notes. A soft and supple palate of velvety forest fruits (cherry, raspberry and strawberry). Pleasant earthy, cedar character with staying power.
