Normandin Mercier Cognac Petite Champagne 1976 Limited Batch #896 500mL
Normandin Mercier Cognac Petite Champagne 1976 Limited Batch #896 is 41.4% ABV. The Normandin Mercier 1976 Cognac is a single vineyard, single vintage cognac that has been created with full respect for the purest methods of cognac production. The eaux-de-vie was first aged for 18 months in new oak barrels. These were then toasted slightly to further allow for the aromas to be infused to the liquid within. Finally the eaux-de-vie was moved to ancient barrels to complete the aging process. Each step was overseen by the BNIC. This cognac was well-deservedly awarded the gold medal in the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2016. Well balanced, both on the nose and on the palate. Aromas of lily and orange bark – a very natural cognac.
About Normandin Mercier:
The site of the property, close to La Rochelle, is the result of a strategic choice in the 19th century. At this time, the city of La Rochelle was the major export harbour for Cognac, both located on the coast and on the rail network. This exceptional site offers the perfect ageing for Cognac with a very natural regulation of hygrometry and temperature. In these cellars, there are only cognacs from Grande and Petite Champagne. Normandin Mercier belongs to the few best family cognac houses. Its originality has been to make some barrels from their many centuries old fallen oak trees. The grain of this wood is such that ageing takes half the normal time, and gives far better results. That was an unexpected discovery, reserved for their “La Péraudière” Grande Champagne Cognac.
