Rosé is the quintessential summer wine inspired by Provençal life in the South of France and typically made from Grenache, Cinsault, Mourvedre and Syrah. With aromatics and flavour profiles influenced by the varieties they are created from, today’s Rosé wines are refreshing and light with very low tannins and a stunning spectrum of pink hues from the red grape skins enjoying a brief rendezvous with the juice. Old world Rosé is largely bone dry while new world styles tend to be sweeter with more fruit. Drier styles crafted from Pinot Noir, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah, Sangiovese and Nebbiolo are exceptionally popular as are the American White Zinfandel and those from Spain, Portugal and Italy.
