MyBottleShop Notes: Tyrrells Wines Old Patch Shiraz 2014 is a distinguished red produced from vines planted in 1867. With just 290 dozen released, this is a limited releae, investment grade wine.
Vineyards and Winemaking: Heavy clay over limestone soil. Fruit from Neil Stevens’ “Old Hillside” vineyard on Marrowbone Road that features purple ochre clay loams. Planted in 1867, Old Hillside is the oldest block on the property – and the entire Hunter valley! Favourable weather conditions have encouraged balanced and elegant vines.
Tasting Notes: A highly perfumed Hunter Valley shiraz with lifted berries and hints of savoury spice and French oak on the nose. The creamy palate boasts seamless structure and perfectly balanced aid and fruit. Rich red fruit underscored by subtle oak.
Cellaring: Excellent drinking now, or cellar up to 2033.
