Wychwood Brewery Goliath Ruby Bitter 500mL 4.2% ABV
Wychwood Brewery Goliath Ruby Bitter is the beer to "slay a mighty thirst". A full-bodied and robust ruby bitter ale. It is brewed with Pale Ale and Crystal malts, and English Fuggles and Styrian Goldings hops. The Wychwood Brewery is a humble one. Their brewery is tucked away behind the main streets of Witney, Oxfordshire Cotswolds. Everything about the names of the places to the names of the ingredients they use make these beers fantasy-like. To quote their website, "Witney is historically famous for its 3 Bs; its bread, its blankets and its beer". Witney has been a brewing town for centuries. The Wychwood Brewery is named after the ancient, medieval Wychwood Forest which borders Witney. The brewery used to be Clinch's, then The Eagle, then Glenny, before becoming Wychwood in 1990. It was co-owned by Chris Moss and Ian Rogers. In 1988, however, Chris Moss was contacted by a local landlord who wanted a special brew created for his daughter's wedding. Thus, their flagship ale, Hobgoblin, was born. Since then, it has become the 5th best-selling bottled ale in the UK. Wychwood sell their beers all over the world.Tasting Notes
Colour and appearance: Pours a ruby red. Thin white head. Aroma: A subtle aroma of fruity hops and biscuity malt. Flavour: Fruit from the hops and a rich malty flavour. A refreshing bitterness on the palate into the finish.GTIN | 5023625005774 |
