San Pedro de Yacochuya

San Pedro de Yacochuya

San Pedro de Yacochuya is Argentina’s famous “treasure” of the domestic wine industry. The vineyard occupies a privileged nook in one of the world’s highest winegrowing regions. It is the gold cradle of two of the sublime red wines in the country: the San Pedro de Yacochuya, malbec with a touch of cabernet sauvignon, and the premium Yacochuya, plain, without adjectives but with the very signature of Michel Rolland. Only 8 kilometres from Cafayate, Yacochuya is located 2,035 meters above sea level with limited rainfall (less than 300 mm/ year), which makes its terroir something unique and matchless. This location was front of mind for famous Pomerol oenologist Michel Rolland when he joined Arnaldo Etchart to exploit 16 hectares on the slopes of the Salta pre-mountain range. This vineyard lays at the shores of the Yacochuya River, meaning “Clear Water” in native Quechua language, truly a hidden gem of the Argentinian wine industry.
