Yalumba winery was established in 1849. The Octavius Old Wine Shiraz is made from aged Shiraz vineyards around the Barossa region, the oldest of which was planted in 1901. Yalumba is the only winery in the southern hemisphere with their own cooperage.
Fermentation takes place in new and seasoned French oak. Octavius Shiraz combines the perfume and pure fruit aromas of the Eden Valley subregion and the concentration and ripeness of Barossa Valley Shiraz. Octavius contains freshness and vinosity with dark chocolate/ brambly/ mocha aromas, silky/chalky tannins, underlying savoury oak and dark chocolate/roasted chesnut/ mocha flavours
