Bundaberg rum has been an integral part of Australia’s heritage since 1888, born out of the canefields of Queensland. In 1907 a disastrous fire ravaged the Bundaberg Distillery. Despite courageous efforts local fire fighters were unable to prevent extensive damage. The origin of the fire remains a mystery. One hundred and one years later, Bundaberg 101 has been released to commemorate the event - a rich dark rum with a hint of smoke. 40% Alc./Vol. There were 87,288 bottles of this rum produced and each bottle came in it own special presentation box.  These bottles were not individually numbered and sold for $AUD49.99 RRP.  Merchandise released with this rum included T Shirts, key rings and caps. Footnote: the packaging on this bottle of rum won a Silver Medal at the world packaging awards in 2008. The labelling on the bottle has charred edges to give the appearance of having been burnt.  The gift carton also carries the same charred appearance and on the back of the carton the story of the fire as described in the Bundaberg Mail.
