Star Ruby Red Grapefruit Known as Pamplemousse in France (hence Pampelle) A natural occurring hybrid of sweet orange and pomelo originating or at least discovered in Barbados in 1750 by Rev. Griffith Hughes who dubbed it the “Forbidden Fruit”. The Ruby-Red variety was discovered quite by accident in Texas in 1929. The Star Ruby variety is considered the fruit with the darkest red colouring of the five Ruby varieties. We source our organic Star Ruby Red Grapefruits from the French Island of Corsica.
