Bethany GSM - First Village 750mL

Vintage Comments
Solid winter and spring rainfall followed by a warm and dry January and February led to a balanced vintage with good fruit intensity and structure. The moments of heat were short and dispersed and there was some cool weather and rain in March that slowed down the red harvest and allowed for a long and balanced extended ripening. Yields were lower than average with a resulting high quality in terms of colour, fruit and intensity.

Winemaker's Report
Five distinct vineyard blocks were used to create this wine. The two Grenache parcels were sourced from Vine Vale and Lyndoch whilst the Shiraz and Mataro came from our own vineyards in Bethany. Parcels were kept separate and whole berry fermented with a variety of skin contact times (7-14 days) and twice daily pump overs according to stage of fermentation. Maturation was for 10 months in a variety of new and seasoned oak as well as stainless steel. The final blend was put together in January 2019 to allow time to come together prior to bottling.
