This is one of the heaviest pot sill rums on the market with a very complex aroma and body with ample caramel, spice and tropical fruit reminiscent of 19th century Jamaican rum. A Navy Strength edition of the classic Smith and Cross Jamaica rum, this stuff is beautiful for sipping neat, and works tremendously well with a couple of ice cubes and a squeeze of lime juice. The mark of Smith & Cross traces its linage to one of England's oldest producers of sugar and spirits. it's history dates back to 1788 with a sugar refinery located at no.203 Thames Street, by the London Docks. Over time the firm and its partners became prominent handlers of Jamaica Rum, with extensive underground cellars along the River Thames. Smith & Cross Traditional Jamaica Rum Tasting Notes Nose: Very aromatic and complex with notes of pipe tobacco, dark chocolate, winter spices, hints of dark fruit, as well as fried banana, a little suggestion of foam banana sweets too! Palate: Thick and rich, massive spice notes carrying forth suggestions of dark fruit, prune, plum wine, vanilla, cedar, unlit cigars, calves leather and musty orange peel. Finish: Long and very warming with notes of caramel and pepper on the tail.
